Hannah Dreier

Join the Berkeley Forum, in partnership with UC Berkeley Journalism, for a conversation with Hannah Dreier, Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter at The New York Times and the first journalist to win Pulitzer Prizes for both Investigative Reporting and Feature Writing.

Dreier’s groundbreaking investigations into child migrant labor in the United States exposed widespread exploitation and prompted federal action, including new legislation and a Senate hearing. Earlier in her career, her reporting on Venezuela’s humanitarian crisis, during which she was kidnapped by the country’s secret police, earned her the James Foley Medal for Courage in Journalism.

The event will feature a 45-minute moderated fireside chat, exploring Dreier’s investigative reporting career, the process of uncovering hidden stories, the ethical challenges of reporting on vulnerable communities, and the power of journalism to hold institutions accountable and drive meaningful change.

The conversation will be followed by a 15-minute audience Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to ask Dreier questions directly.
