Ley Heimgartner
Ley is a second-year documentary student at U.C. Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism. Being an international student from a small village in Switzerland, she has focused a lot of her previous work on character studies surrounding the themes of cultural identity in a rapidly growing, global society.
She has worked as an assistant editor on several feature-length documentaries by award-winning filmmakers. Her other work experience includes being an associate producer, cinematographer, and associate editor on various commercial and documentary productions.
During her time at UC Berkeley, she is focusing on themes of culture, environmental issues, immigration, and education, honing her storytelling and production skills.
Her masters documentary Washed Ashore tells the story of an international team of marine biologists investigating the mysterious die-off of gray whales along the North American West Coast.
