Emily Gibson

Emily Gibson is a documentary producer and videographer with a focus on human rights stories.

After studying political science and human rights at Columbia University, she worked on social justice issues at several nonprofits during her 10 years in New York City. She recently graduated from the documentary production program at the University of California, Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism where she studied under the mentorship of Orlando Bagwell and Jon Else.

She recently produced and shot a short video on sanitation and women’s safety in India, which NYT’s David Carr made required viewing for his course at Boston University. Emily is currently in post-production on a documentary about a group of Buddhist extremists in Burma/Myanmar, which she produced, co-shot and edited.

Emily also assisted on several documentary projects for Al Jazeera’s Fault Lines and Frontline.
