Rachel Loyd
Rachel is an assignment editor at KRON 4 News in San Francisco. She’s also working on her MS degree at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.
She’s originally from Evanston, Illinois. Rachel earned a BS degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Illinois in 2014. Then, she taught first grade in Houston, Texas as a Teach For America Corps Member. Although she was removed from the journalism field, teaching renewed her passion for learning and reporting. So, she decided to return to school to refine her journalism skills.
As an Oakland North web reporter at UC Berkeley, she’s reported on a misconduct between Oakland police officers and sex workers, the Bay Area housing crisis and the political climate post Donald Trump’s presidential election.
