Joshua Escobar (DJ Ashtrae) was the Dean’s Fellow in Writing at the MFA Program at Bard College (Class of 2017). He was a Merit Fellow at the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California at Berkeley (Class of 2016). Caljforkya Voltage, his first chapbook, will be published by No, Dear/Small Anchor Press this September. His poetry has appeared in the Recluse, Palimpsest: Yale Literary & Arts Magazine, and 7×7.la. While at the School of Journalism he worked with Dave Tuller, Deirdre English, Jenn Kahn, Rebecca Skloot, and Mark Danner; and his poetry became influenced by the radical work of Marlon Riggs. He is a 2017 CantoMundo fellow, and he lives in Brooklyn.
