Nuria is a Berkeley-based print and audio reporter. Currently, she reports on education and community stories for The East Bay Express.

Before coming to Berkeley, she worked and studied in Pittsburgh, PA. She’s contributed to The East Bay Express, Pittsburgh Magazine, and Sampsonia Way. She also worked as the Executive Producer of [in brackets], a podcast by WPTS Radio and Hot Metal Bridge.

    Work closely with the editors and writers as part of the core editorial team, sit in on management and staff meeting, and help make decisisions about daily and weekly programming. Along with writing for the blog, I reasearch and report on longer feature and investigative stories for print.

    Work with the senior podcast producer on digital recordings: listen and timecode, engineer, edit interviews and layout episodes. Help to market and promote the podcasts by reaching out to past guest speakers and agencies and to promote the podcasts and radio show with local rado stations. Innovate audio segments for Berkeleyside features with reporters.

    Executive Producer
    Executive producer of a monthly, 30-minute, interview podcast, [in brackets]. Main duties included managing the in-studio recording session, editing and final mixing for each episode. Worked with ProTools audio editing software. Outside of the podcast, I wrote and produced 1-2-minute news clips to be played over the air daily.

    News Intern
    Wrote and reported 2-3 spot news stories a week to be read over the air. Interviews were typically 15-30 minutes, conducted over the phone, and recorded using Adobe Audition software. Scheduled weekend tweets and managed the news site using the Core Publishing website platform.
