Anisa Mehdi is an Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist and writer specializing in religion and the arts. Her documentary films (Frontline, National Geographic) shine light on the human side of global culture and politics. She is the first American to report the Hajj pilgrimage on location as the director of Inside Mecca her National Geographic documentary that offers an intimate look at the annual pilgrimage to Mecca.

Anisa has helped broaden the scope of stories on religion as reported by CBS News, PBS, and ABC News  -- contributing perspective and nuance to the public sphere in our post 9/11 world. In today's polarizing political environment, deeper understanding of Islam and Muslims is increasingly important.
