Join us for the 2026 Homecoming talk at UC Berkeley Journalism to celebrate the launch of the Forbidden Stories Lab at UC Berkeley Journalism.

On September 21, Forbidden Stories launched a massive global investigation of the Trump administration’s secret deals to expel people from the U.S. — often to third-country prisons and detention centers worldwide. They coordinated work with 72 journalists and 26 news organizations in 15 countries, with stories published in The Washington Post, The Guardian, Frontline and more. The Investigative Reporting Program at UC Berkeley Journalism and the Human Rights Center at Berkeley Law contributed to the project. The powerful principle behind the global journalism non-profit Forbidden Stories is simple: “If a journalist falls, others rise and collectively continue their work.”

The Forbidden Stories motto is “Killing the journalist won’t kill the story.” Join us to highlight and celebrate this collaboration at UC Berkeley.
