David Landau

David Landau, Editor of Ha’aretz English Edition and Editorial Board member of Ha’aretz, Israel’s oldest and most prestigious newspaper, often considered the “Israeli New York Times”

Mr. Landau is the Israeli correspondent for The Economist and appears frequently as an analyst on CNN and BBC. His highly acclaimed book, “Piety and Power: The World of Jewish Fundamentalism,” was published in 1993. Following in 1996, Mr. Landau collaborated with the former Prime Minister, Shimon Peres, on Peres’ memoirs in “Battling for Peace.”
Mr. Landau has had the opportunity to interview numerous world leaders and was the first Israeli journalist to have interviewed Anwar Sadat.
Born and raised in England, Mr. Landau was the diplomatic correspondent of The Jerusalem Post for 13 years and was the managing editor of the Post for 4 years. Mr. Landau also holds a law degree from London University.

Mr. Landau recently returned from Kazakhstan with the Conference of Presidents of American Jewish Organizations at the close of an inter-faith “Conference on Peace and Accord” between Jewish and Muslim leaders. He lives with his wife, Jackie, a rehabilitation teacher of visually-impaired children, and has three children and three grandchildren.
