We are excited to announce the Commencement 2026 speakers, selected by students in the Class of 2026:

Keynote Speaker: Bianca Graulau

Bianca Graulau is a Puerto Rican independent journalist who specializes in investigative and long-form journalism.
She often covers colonialism and its effects on communities and the environment.
After working for TV affiliates at ABC, CBS and NBC for eight years, she launched independent channels. She has amassed more than a million followers on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
Her work includes the documentary “Aquí Vive Gente,” which was published on Bad Bunny’s YouTube channel in 2022 and currently has more than 16 million views.

Showcase Locations and Times

UC Berkeley Journalism’s 2026 Master’s Project Showcases are a celebration of the extraordinary work created by our graduating students. Over three days, you’ll have the opportunity to experience compelling documentary films, photojournalism, multimedia journalism, narrative stories and audio productions — all brought to life by the next generation of storytellers. Join us at BAMPFA and the Logan Multimedia Center (LMC) located inside the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism in North Gate Hall for screenings, exhibitions, and a chance to meet the journalists behind the work.

Here’s the Showcase schedule:

Thursday, May 14
2:00 – 4:30 pm: Documentary — Part I at *BAMPFA (please arrive by 1:30)
5:00 – 6:00 pm: Reception in the UC Berkeley Journalism courtyard for documentary and photojournalism.
6:00 – 7:30 pm: Photojournalism Showcase in the LMC (Watch the livestream here)

*Free tickets will be available at BAMPFA starting at 1:30pm, and are first come-first served with limited availability (223 max). Please plan to come for the whole event. No promise of seating between films. No food or drink allowed in the Barbro Osher Theater. Note: It’s a 20-minute walk uphill through campus to North Gate Hall from BAMPFA.

Friday, May 15
2:00 to 4:00 pm: Documentary Showcase Part II at *BAMPFA (please arrive by 1:30)

9:00am Commencement at Zellerbach Playhouse on the UC Berkeley campus to the rear of Zellerbach Hall on Spieker Plaza.

12:00 pm Reception for students and families in North Gate Hall’s courtyard. It’s a 10 minute walk through campus from the venue to the reception.
