J298 Introduction to Audio (Section 2 – Second Years)

This class is designed for non-audio track second years who want to learn about audio.

This class teaches you the basics of audio journalism: how to conduct effective audio interviews; gather great sound scenes; and write for the ear. It will also teach you how to take journalism you’ve created for other mediums and translate that work into an audio format.

For example, narrative students will learn the techniques of how to be interviewed on the radio about their print pieces to increase the reach of their work.

Multimedia focused students will understand how to capture clean and compelling audio to enhance their short form videos and animation work.

Photojournalists will be able to add another layer of intimacy to their photos by including the voices of their subjects.
