J298 Climate Story Lab

Since this class will be supported by external funding, this class requires an application to be accepted.

This class will be capped at 12 graduate students and taught by Jason Spingarn-Koff and Mark Schapiro. Our goal is to equip you to publish stories, in any medium, related to these topics. Preference will be given to students currently enrolled in the fall Climate Story Lab, but it is not a pre-requisite. Compared to the fall class, this semester will include more hands-on instruction and guidance in covering climate change, reporting on affected communities, as well as guest lectures on the subject matter and craft. While publication is not guaranteed, we will help you to place stories, work with media partners, or develop pitches over the course of the semester. The course is designed to compliment other production classes and tracks (video, audio, multimedia, data etc); we will *not* provide our own equipment or technical training/support. Note the course will include some supplemental funds to cover reporting/travel expenses, which will require an application once the class list is finalized.
