J219 MINI The Accountability Project: Building Newsroom Data Tools (Seven weeks 10/14-12/2)

This is a seven week mini course that starts on Oct. 14 – Dec. 2. It is only open to second-year students.

The Accountability Project (TAP): Building newsroom Data Tools is a searchable collection of hundreds of databases containing nearly 2 billion public records. Students will play a vital role in this project from the ground up: acquiring and bulletproofing data, standardizing data across topics and analyzing the data to report stories. Students can choose data sets they’d like to work with or work with the current catalog. We’re software agnostic, but you should have some experience analyzing data.
