Lynne Shallcross is a multimedia journalist and a 2014-2015 Kaiser Permanente Health Policy Journalism Fellow.

Her work has appeared in such outlets as KQED public radio, Al Jazeera America, msnbc.com, Washingtonian magazine, California Healthline, Carolina Alumni Review magazine, Counseling Today magazine and Mission Local.

Born and raised in the beautiful (yes, really!) garden state of New Jersey, Lynne went on to earn dual bachelor’s degrees in journalism and Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before moving to Washington, D.C. to pursue work as a journalist.

She is in her second year at the U.C. Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, where she’s focused on multimedia reporting, with a special interest in health disparities. In 2014, she was honored with the Sacramento Press Club Jean Stephens Scholarship.

During the summer between her two years in the master’s program at Berkeley, she produced health-focused radio, video and online print pieces for KQED, the nation’s most-listened-to public radio station. She also served as a production and research intern for Al Jazeera’s Emmy-nominated documentary series Fault Lines.

Before moving to Berkeley, Lynne most recently served as the associate editor and senior writer for Counseling Today, the monthly magazine of the American Counseling Association.
