Jason currently works as a researcher and reporter at the UC Berkeley Investigative Reporting Program. He is producing a documentary film looking into the way the military acquires new weapons systems, the delays and cost-overruns and the sometimes deadly costs to military personnel.

Jason serves as a public records researcher at the IRP and is proficient in all things FOIA.

His year-long investigation into a troubled Navy helicopter program has won a variety of top journalism honors across broadcast and print. He is a Livingston Award finalist and winner of the Sigma Delta Chi Award for Investigative Reporting.

    The Livingston Awards at the University of Michigan are American journalism awards issued to media professionals under the age of 35 for local, national, and international reporting. They are the largest, all-media, general reporting prizes in America. Popularly referred to as the Pulitzer for the Young, the awards have recognized the early talent of journalists, including Michele Norris, Christiane Amanpour, David Remnick, Ira Glass, J. R. Moehringer, Thomas Friedman, Rick Atkinson, David Isay, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Tom Ashbrook, Nicholas Confessore, C. J. Chivers and Charles Sennot.

    Society of Professional Journalists
    The Society of Professional Journalists has recognized the NBC News Investigative Unit, The Virginian-Pilot, and the Investigative Reporting Program at UC Berkeley for their combined reporting on a troubled Navy helicopter program.

    The judges of SPJ's prestigious Sigma Delta Chi awards singled out the collaborative report, "Sea Dragon Down," which was broadcast in February 2015 on "Nightly News," as the best investigative TV news report in the country last year.
