Walls March 6, 2008

For the first show of spring, we’re examining the concept of walls. Laurie Burkitt talks with a Bay Area marathoner and his techniques to avoid “hitting the wall.” Robert Lewis looks at some of the bigger victims in the sub-prime mortgage crisis — minority small business owners. Abbie Fentress Swanson speaks with residents of Oakland’s Temescal neighborhood about the removal of “bandit barriers” from local stores. Cynthia Dizikes tells a story about one apartment dweller who was surprised to learn her neighbors could hear everything. Andi McDaniel sat down with Harley Shaiken, the chair of U.C. Berkeley’s Center for Latin American Studies, to get his thoughts on the proposed wall along the U.S. – Mexican border.
