With new media on the rise and traditional media businesses faltering, today there is more opportunity than ever for entrepreneurial journalists to have an impact.
Students and professors from the Graduate School of Journalism and the Haas School of Business have come together to develop and embark on a new course in teaching media entrepreneurship.
In teams, students developed their own new business ideas, then worked to refine their business plans and pitches. At the same time, venture capitalists and successful media entrepreneurs came in as guest speakers.
In its first iteration, more than 30 students participated, including students from the Journalism, Business and Law schools.
