A native of Oakland, Tasion has always nurtured a passion for writing. As a teenager she began cultivating her skills by writing poetry. In 2005 competed in the national Brave New Voices Poetry Slam Competition as a member of the Bay Area team. She has shared the stages with great poets such as Amirir Baracka, Sunni Patterson, Amir Sulaiman, Joshua Bennet and Shihan.

In 2009, Tasion was offered an internship with the Oakland Post Newspaper. Working directly with the publisher and the editor, Tasion learned the basic requirements of journalism by being “thrown” into the field.

Tasion conducted numerous interviews for city and state officials and celebrities including Chief Probation Officer David Muhammad, national recording artist Lil’ Kim, and noted comedian Kevin Hart.

After completing the internship for one year, she was offered the Assistant Editor position of the Richmond Post Paper while continuing to serve as the Washington, D.C. Correspondent.

She also worked as a staff writer for “The Hilltop”, Howard University’s award-winning student newspaper.

Tasion served as a Crime Reporter for Oakland North.
