Fortress is seeking an experienced corporate communications professional to become a key individual contributor on a high-performing, integrated team responsible for all aspects of Investor Relations, Corporate Communications, Executive Communications, Media Relations, Brand Positioning and External Affairs. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to advance business and valuation objectives through highly-effective, sophisticated, targeted communications. The successful candidate will also have experience with financial/business media and the ability to address complex topics with confidence, sophistication and sensitivity to nuance.
This is a unique opportunity to join the Investor Relations and Corporate Communications team of a leading, global, publicly-traded investment management firm, with more than $40 billion in assets under management across multiple business lines (Private Equity, Credit, Liquid Markets, and Traditional Asset Management). This newly created key individual contributor position will report to the Managing Director and Head of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Creating effective, targeted communications for a broad range of audiences—current and prospective investors, management team, media, employees, general public, and others—reflecting a deep familiarity with market, competitive, investment and business dynamics within the asset management industry;
Responding to media inquiries and, over time, building, deepening and strengthening relationships with key members of the financial and business media;
With the Managing Director, developing issue-specific and broader, integrated public and media relations strategies to support Fortress and certain related portfolio companies;
Creating content for “evergreen” communications vehicles, including the Fortress website, and for high-profile “one-off” communications, including speeches, press releases, annual reports, and business presentations;
Maintaining current Q&As and talking points for Fortress executive team, addressing key issues;
Providing valued counsel on matters of communications and media strategy based on deep experience as a hands-on practitioner, not a professional manager;
Establishing and tracking progress against key metrics for corporate communications success;
Working with Managing Director, refining the company’s strategies for building and enhancing the company’s brand on a global basis.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience, qualifications and skills:
A Bachelors Degree, preferably in English or Journalism with a strong academic record—additional coursework in economics and/or finance is preferred.
10+ years experience in one of the following situations: as a member of the financial services and/or asset management practice of a highly-regarded public relations firm; as a hands-on practitioner in the corporate communications department of a large asset manager or other financial institution (preferably publicly-traded); as a journalist covering the asset management space, with a particular focus on the alternatives space.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including the ability to distill often complex financial, business, market and regulatory issues into compelling and audience-tailored communications.
Outstanding interpersonal skills, business maturity and discretion, with significant experience working with senior management teams on highly confidential and high profile matters;
A proven self-starter with excellent organizational skills, who thrives in a fast-paced work environment and is capable of delivering exceptional work product under unforgiving time constraints;
A deep understanding of financial markets, capital markets and government/regulatory issues.
He or she must have demonstrated experience creating and structuring a proactive investor relations/corporate communications program.
Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
