Description:

The Associated Press seeks a Digital Products Producer to be based at the AP's Nerve Center at global headquarters in New York.

The ideal candidate will have a strong news background, both national and international, and be able to operate across formats (text, video, photos and interactive) in breaking news situations, as well as contributing to online-friendly enterprise efforts.

Strong news judgment and the ability to effectively communicate at all levels, both internally and externally, are a must.

The successful candidate will need to possess strong writing capabilities. The candidate must be able to write engaging headlines and be able to distill long, complex stories to their core essentials.  The candidate should be able to think across formats to combine text, photos, video, interactives and audio together in self-contained pieces. 

 This role will focus on a pivotal and crucial area going forward: digital products.

 The successful candidate will be a key stakeholder in the creation of new digital news platforms focusing on big stories and verticals that are likely to come online in the coming months.

 They will also be involved in the AP's universal mobile app which is under constant technical and editorial development.

 They will need to have a keen sense of the social media landscape and how the AP can best utilize its resources for newsgathering and output operations, working closely with the organization's social media editor based at the nerve center. Knowledge of social media tools and web/mobile trends and standards will be essential.

They will also weigh in on maintaining and developing key editorial relationships with major AP customers and members as needed. This will require the ability to foster strong personal relationships with customers so they are connected to the AP newsroom, have an awareness of our global reach and understand the value AP brings.

Candidates must have a minimum 3 years of newsroom experience and be able to navigate a large, global organization.

Experience:

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

 Physical Demands: No special requirements.

Working Hours: Must be able to work a variety of hours to accommodate 24/7 coverage as needed.
