Description:
Our Ideal Candidate
OCO is looking for an experienced communications professional who can add power to our ongoing Fall civic engagement campaign. This person will be responsible for working with a team of senior staff and leaders to develop and implement a campaign communications plan to reach target audiences through print, web/social media, earned and paid media.
Specific responsibilities include:
Develop, manage, and implement a communications plan for the Let My People Vote civic engagement campaign, including online strategy, media management, public messaging, and effective website utilization
Develop and implement new strategies for using social media tools to engage individuals, inform the broader community, and build power and influence to create change in the public arena
Oversee the development of materials, including content production and dissemination, and email blasts pertaining to the Let My People Vote campaign
Motivate, train and consult with OCO leaders to strengthen their communications capacity
Manage online and print media outreach including building relationships with bloggers and reporters to bolster all forms of media coverage for the Let My People Vote campaign
Experience:
Desired qualifications include:
Experience in social justice, political, or community development work;
Excellent interpersonal skills. Self-directed and highly motivated;
Exceptional writing, editing, presentation, and verbal skills;
Strong computer skills- Required: Excel, Word, PowerPoint; Optional: Adobe Photoshop & Premiere;
Knowledge and ability to use different social media channels;
Experience in website editing and publishing
Desire to work with diverse religious congregations and racial/ethnic communities
Bilingual in Spanish/English;
Bachelor’s degree or comparable level of experience or education;
