Calendar Editor

East Bay Express

Category: Newspapers-Wire Services
Location: Oakland
State: CA

Description:

The East Bay Express has an immediate vacancy for the entry-level position of calendar editor, the person in charge of compiling the East Bay’s most comprehensive weekly event listings. The calendar editor will also write two 150-word event recommendations per week and one longer 450-word preview, and will also compile our movie listings. This is a part-time, 28-hours-a-week job without benefits.

Experience:

Our ideal candidate is someone with an interest in and awareness of the vast arts and cultural happenings in the East Bay — not just the exhibits at the Berkeley Art Museum and Oakland Museum of California, but also the plays staged in small black-box theaters, the sushi classes, seed swaps, architectural tours, bike parties, and bird-watching outings happening in all corners of the region. Applicants must be organized; detail-oriented; discerning; have an aptitude for data entry; and be able to write clean, compelling content.

How To Apply:

Applicants should send a résumé, three relevant clips, and a letter explaining why you’re right for the job to Co-Editor Kathleen Richards at Kathleen[dot]Richards[at]eastbayexpress[dot]com. No phone calls, please.

Deadline To Apply: Sept. 28, 2012
