Description:

The Independent Mail, an awardwinning E.W. Scripps newspaper located in Anderson, SC, is seeking a productive, resourceful multimedia journalist. The job requires strong reporting and writing skills as well as an appreciation for and understanding of multiplatform journalism. The ideal candidate will be selfmotivated and have a track record of producing daily hard news stories and features of interest to local audiences. This reporter will produce clean, accurate and relevant content tailored to print, the Web, tablet and mobile.

The best candidate will:
Understand thoroughly reporting fundamentals, including issues involving access, privacy, libel and ethics.
Have a record of writing clearly and succinctly on a variety of topics.
Be knowledgeable of and preferably proficient in the use technological newsgathering and publishing tools.
Work well, and communicate clearly and openly, with other staff members.
Be able and willing to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and the general public.
Be a whiz at meeting deadlines.

We are looking for a special talent with a great attitude and natural leadership demonstrated by example.

Experience:

A minimum of 5-10 years of reporting experience is preferred, and at least two years is required.
