Awesome Business Writer

Wall St. Cheat Sheet

Category: New Media
Location: nationwide
State: nationwide
Salary: $2500/month to start + bonuses
Duration of Position: TBD
Work Schedule: Full Time

Description:

Wall St. Cheat Sheet is looking for a full-time writer/blogger to cover business news and stocks. This person will write awesome articles about a wide range of subjects affecting top companies on a daily basis. Over 3,000,000 unique monthly readers will be enjoying your work, so this job is only for those serious about a career as a professional writer.

Feature writers often have to work on a deadline, turning out multiple articles a day on various topics. A feature writer must be comfortable with varying styles of writing, and at times may be called upon to lend his/her opinions to an issue. A strong, unique voice and a sharp wit are invaluable assets, as is the ability to recognize interesting news elements. A feature writer will often be called upon to suggest his/her own story ideas or angles through research.

Experience:

Strong reading comprehension is essential, as is the ability to learn quickly and adapt to the varying and ever-changing demands of the job. Experience as a business or economics writer is not necessary, but the position does require that you develop a working knowledge of industry jargon.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in writing, whether through his/her studies or in a professional capacity. He/she should have a strong grasp of proper grammar and punctuation, and knowledge of AP style is a plus. This job contains opportunities for advancement for those who take initiative and go above and beyond the basic requirements of the position.

Please apply ONLY if you meet the following requirements:

4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
Excellent writing and copywriting skills
The ability to learn and adapt quickly
A strong work ethic supported by a passion for news writing
Close attention to detail and the ability to multitask
A working knowledge of search-engine optimization is preferred, but not required

How To Apply:

To apply, please send your resume, cover letter, and a writing sample to Leah Hoffman (leah@wallstcheatsheet.com) with the subject heading ‘Feature Writer.’
Please submit an email no larger than 500 KB.
