Description:
The Director of Copy will lead seasonal concept work from brief through to presentation and into execution.
Leads copy team members in concepting and idea generation from product naming to cross-brand digital and social media campaigns, always editing to the brand.
Partners with Art Directors in Design and Photography to ensure consistent brand messaging and synergy across book, site and social media channels.
Drives enhanced strategic approaches for creative process across all channels.
Leads voice for all Intimate Apparel display copy in book and online.
Partners with Copy Manager on the digital creative strategy for annual VS Fashion Show.
Writes copy and directs copywriters, both in-house and freelance, on tone, style, story and content.
Manages special process elevated catalogues and web deliverables with attention to marketing strategic brand building.
Leads voice and creative for all email contacts in close contact with design and marketing partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Partners with merchants and marketing to write copy that supports business initiatives and goals
Leads the team in generating editorial ideas and pre-season concepts
Executes presentations and final execution of pre-season concepts
Interfaces with Victoria's Secret Beauty, Stores, and Design on relevant projects
Edits in-house and freelance copy to the VSD tone
Presents final copy and concepts to Creative Director
Conceptualizes, writes and directs Brand copy for appropriate catalogues
Leads creative brainstorming
Exposes the team to new ideas and inspiring examples of creativity
Partners with Art Directors in Photography and Design to ensure all work is aligned
with the brand and communicates a cohesive message on web and in catalogue
Interfaces with shoot, graphic, and coordination teams to ensure effective
project completion
Oversees workflow and ensure all deadlines are met with accuracy
Manages, trains and develops a copy team
Experience:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent writing skills with an outstanding portfolio
Must be an idea person and true problem-solver
Ability to lead and inspire creative team members
Ability to build creative briefs and strategic documents
Attuned to, and passionate about, the fashion and retail industry
Ability to manage multiple projects and readjust priorities in order to meet deadlines
Self-motivated and independent thinker
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to present creative ideas
Attention to detail as well as a holistic vision
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
BA in literature, journalism, advertising, or equivalent experience
8-10 years of writing experience
5 years experience leading and managing a team
5 years experience leading creative projects and cross-functional team members
Fashion/beauty, retail/direct experience
Fluency with Macintosh system and Quark, Word, and Excel InDesign preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ability to read and proofread copy
Ability to type and manipulate a mouse
Able to communicate verbally and in writing
