Description:
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing Officer will develop a wide range of marketing material to promote the community foundation’s products, services and brand; write compelling content for marketing materials, annual reports, a quarterly e-newsletter and other projects; and plan advertising campaigns across multiple media platforms. This individual will develop and manage multiple marketing and communications activities for Silicon Valley Community Foundation.
Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, public relations or communications.
•Minimum of 5+ years experience in marketing, public relations or communications field, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
•Excellent writing and storytelling skills that can be applied to the full range of marketing and communications activities, from event marketing and advertising to newsletters and publications.
•Prior experience negotiating ad contracts and placement across multiple media platforms and ability to manage an advertising budget desirable.
•Superior project management skills, excellent judgment and an appreciation for graphics and design.
•Excellent communication skills: interpersonal, oral and written.
•Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects and work in a deadline-drive environment with high expectations and standards.
•Demonstrated ability to write on deadline and to edit quickly and succinctly.
•Self starter who can manage multiple projects and priorities, work independently and creatively within the department and across the organization
•Experience recruiting and managing vendors.
•Team player with the ability to work with diverse groups.
•Ability to generate new ideas, improve processes and work across the organization, communicating goals and ideas and motivating others to participate.
•Strong computer skills.
