TakePart.com, part of the Participant Media family, is looking for a few great editorial interns to contribute to our daily news website with a focus on social action, issues and causes. At TakePart, we believe in the power of individuals to change the world. The ideal candidate will be self-starting, web savvy, a good writer and a quick learner who can translate these issues into informative, shareable and impactful blog posts, lists, stories, and videos.
Duties will include:
Researching, writing and producing original content, such as features, lists and photo essays, that connect the news of the day to the causes and issues our readers care about.
Pitching ideas for original features and programming on TakePart.com.
General research and editorial support tasks.
Creating original content to support the social action campaigns of Participant films.
Interns must be available to work a minimum of two days per week in our Beverly Hills offices. Internships are for course credit only.
TakePart's parent company is Participant Media, which believes that a good story, well told, can make a difference. Participant’s films, such as An Inconvenient Truth, The Help, Contagion, The Cove and Food Inc, seek to entertain audiences first, and then invite them to participate in effective change. To accomplish this, Participant actively teams with non-profits to create specific avenues to positive involvement. To date, Participant has developed programs and active, working relationships with 156 non-profits. Collectively, we have the potential to reach more than 75 million people.
Experience:
Experience with Photoshop and Illustrator are a plus, and HTML, and social media experience preferred.
