Seeking 5 to 7 editorial interns for GALO Magazine
GALO Magazine
Category: New MediaLocation: Telecommute

Salary: 0$
Duration of Position: 4 months
Work Schedule: Unknown
Description:
GALO Magazine, an online art and culture magazine, is looking for seven interns for all of its sections.
In addition, GALO is looking for three photojournalists or multimedia journalists who have experience with photo essays as seen in the New York Times' "One in 8 Million" series, Magnum Photos, or GALO's "30 Under 30 series."
This position would be unpaid; however, writers would have a chance to have their work published online. I would also be providing writers with their own byline/author biography, a place on the Masthead, and press passes/credentials. Currently the position is a work from home one; therefore, there is no need to worry about morning commute! However, a working computer and reliable internet connection are a must.
I am looking for interns who can write two times a week, and deliver 600 to 800 word articles, though there is room for longer features. The magazine itself has a strong focus on the NYC and American arts scene as well as artistic endeavors of Europeans and Poles in America and in Poland. However, the coverage does not end there. GALO is simply put: Global Art Laid Out! It has the following sections:
1) Arts & Culture (including reviews, profiles, and features on theater, art, film, music, opera, fashion and dance)
2) Business & Technology (gadgets, economy and business features circling around arts, and profile pieces on businesses and their owners)
3) Editorials
4) Expressions (Specific to the art of photography and video)
5) Food & Travel (including recipes and features on restaurants, hotels/lodgings, and travel destinations)
6) From Europe to America (human interest pieces/profiles on ordinary people, features relevant to NYC/Poland/Europe/States)
I will provide more information on each section if you are accepted. More sections may be added with time, but for now those are the sections that are available with a strong focus on the Arts.
Experience:
Though I do prefer those with a minimum of 1-2 years of journalism experience, I will consider those who are just starting out.
I ask that you proceed only if you have a serious interest and feel this platform will be a good fit for your goals and endeavors.
How To Apply:
If this piques your interest, please send the following to o.zapisek@galomagazine.com :
1) Your resume and cover letter
2) 2-3 published clips
3) What section(s) you would potentially be interested in writing for
Thank you and I look forward to reading your applications!
