Description:

The Associated Press seeks a Production Coordinator (GMS) for its New York City location.

Responsibilities:
- Works closely coordinating the editorial, production and transmission requirements of GMS in-house clients
- Coordinates satellite feeds for Global Media Services as well as AP News departments
- Arrange crewing and facilities assignments for Global Media Services clients
- Coordinates and setup production facilities and logistics for planned special events and breaking news
- Maintain regular communication with clients and positive customer relationships
- Work under tight deadline in breaking news situations, including nights and weekends as required
- Field operations and on-site location work as required for planned and breaking news events
- Researches availability of news stories and dubbing for clients
- Responsible for accurate, clear and timely cost tracking as well as quoting services to clients
- General administrative duties in line with those above along with written correspondence with clients and vendors

Travel as needed on short notice depending on the news cycle. Candidate should have the ability to work well within a deadline driven environment and possess an enthusiastic approach to problem solving. Ability to multi-task, monitoring incoming emails and phone calls with urgency and accuracy.- Fluency in Spanish, French and/or Italian is strongly desired. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent-level experience strongly preferred.

Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required. Authorization to work in the U.S. will be mandatory.

Experience:

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must have at least five years experience in a broadcast environment.
Newsroom environment is multi-faceted and requires person to be able to juggle multiple tasks at once.
The successful candidate understands fiber, domestic satellite, and international satellite delivery and production facilities.
Knowledge of domestic satellite/fiber booking procedures required.
Knowledge of international satellite/fiber booking procedures is helpful but not required.
Candidate must have a keen interest in news events and a willingness to travel and work in the field when needed.
Candidate should possess a basic knowledge of technical broadcast operations.
Candidate must be well organized, detail-oriented, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have working knowledge of basic computer/PC programs (i.e. Word/Excel).
Experience working with the AP transmission system is strongly preferred.
Experience working with ScheduALL is a plus.
Candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and work well as part of a team.
Ability and willingness to work overtime when needed including weekends and holidays.
