Freelance Marketing & Public Relations Expert

Protect Your Lungs

Category: Miscellaneous
State:
Salary: Based on Experience
Duration of Position: Ongoing
Work Schedule: Unknown

Description:

Because there is no reliable way to detect lung cancer in its early stages, the disease kills more people than breast, colon and prostate cancers combined. Protect Your Lungs, a burgeoning non-profit based in Washington D.C., is working to change this by funding promising research for the early detection of lung cancer. Our goal is to give patients a chance to find lung cancer, treat it and live.

And you can help! We are looking for a talented freelancer to join us in spreading the word about lung cancer and highlighting the great work PYL is doing.

We are looking for an independent contractor who can strategize and craft effective marketing materials to increase PYL’s visibility and donor base while educating the public about lung cancer. This person will quickly grasp the tone of the organization and craft language for materials (press releases, brochures, donor handouts, etc.) that will help generate large donations for PYL and press coverage at events.

Experience:

* Must have professional marketing writing experience, preferably dealing with medical or scientific topics. * General knowledge of lung cancer is not required, but a plus. * Excellent communication skills, particularly persuasive writing for a non-profit, are required. * Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences. * Experience with promoting events is required. * Must be adept at meeting deadlines and recruiting press to events. * BA or BS degree. * 5+ years of experience in marketing/public relations.

How To Apply:

Please send a cover letter, resume, and 2-3 marketing writing samples to: jkunde@protectyourlungs.org by January 15.

Samples should indicate applicant's role in the process and some explanation of the project.
