Victoria MauleÌ_n is thrilled to return to the J School to teach Advanced Radio. Her goal for the class is to give students the opportunity to pitch and produce stories for KQED’s The California Report. Her Advanced Radio students last year produced about two dozen stories that have aired on KQED.

Victoria first joined KQED/The California Report in 2006 as a Producer, and now serves as the show’s Associate Senior Producer. Victoria oversees the production and editorial direction of The California Report Magazine, a weekly, statewide newsmagazine program carried by 23 public radio stations. Victoria is the primary editor of all magazine content, editing with KQED reporters, member station reporters, and freelancers. She also edits radio features for KQED’s multiplatform Arts Desk.

Before her work in radio production, Victoria worked as a television producer, and her work aired on PBS, MSNBC, HBO, VH1, and AMC. Her radio and television work has earned her a Northern California Emmy Award, a John Swett Award, an Excellence in Journalism Award from the Society of Professional Journalists, two San Francisco Peninsula Press Club awards, a Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism, and a Randy Shilts Memorial Award for Excellence in Journalism.
