New
Media Conference
Friday,
April 6, and Saturday, April 7
UC Berkeley
Welcome to the fourth annual
online journalism conference co-sponsored by the UC Berkeley Graduate School
of Journalism and the USC Annenberg School for Communication.
In the year since our last conference the new media publishing industry has been hit by waves of layoffs, cutbacks, bankruptcies and uncertainty over the future of online publishing. And a broad range of problems concerning privacy, intellectual property and professional standards pose new threats to media companies.
Yet the number of people going online continues to grow, and user-generated content sites proliferate even as media publications struggle. New technologies, from broadband and wireless to e-books and electronic paper, also promise to transform new media publishing yet again.
Join us and many of the leaders in the online publishing industry from around the country on April 6 and 7 at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism for a provocative discussion of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in this ever-changing medium.
