The application deadline is March 8, 2013. The 20 journalists accepted as New York Times fellows will be notified by March 22, 2013. The institute will provide lodging and meals. Please indicate on your application if you need assistance with travel costs. For questions regarding the institute or the application process, please contact us.

To apply, please complete the online form below. You will need to include:

  • A letter of interest (500 words or less) explaining how this training will benefit your work;
  • Your resume;
  • A letter of support from a supervisor (Freelance journalists: you may submit a letter from an editor who has published your work);
  • Links to three relevant work samples;
  • A professional biography (100 words or less).

The institute has limited funds for travel. Applicants are expected to ask their employers to cover travel expenses. If your employer is unable to pay for your travel, you may apply for reimbursement for travel from the institute. If you are requesting travel reimbursement, please include a one paragraph statement explaining the need and your estimated travel costs.
